What to Do in a Dental Emergency in Indore

By Dr. Shailly Nimbark·30 August 2026

Handling Dental Emergencies Fast

Accidents happen, and dental emergencies can be incredibly painful and scary. Knowing what to do in the first 30 minutes can often mean the difference between saving or losing a tooth. If you are in Indore and experience a dental emergency, call Dream Smile Dental Clinic immediately at 88270-81906.

1. Severe, Throbbing Toothache

A sudden, unbearable toothache that keeps you awake at night usually indicates a deep nerve infection or abscess. What to do: Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Gently use dental floss to ensure no food is wedged between the teeth. Take an over-the-counter painkiller (like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen) but never crush aspirin against your gums—it will burn the tissue. See a dentist immediately for an emergency Root Canal or drainage.

2. A Knocked-Out (Avulsed) Tooth

This is a true emergency. If an adult tooth is knocked out completely, it can often be replanted if you act within 30-60 minutes! What to do: Pick the tooth up by the crown (the chewing surface), NOT the root. Gently rinse it with milk or saline if it's dirty, but do not scrub it. Try to place it back into the socket. If that's not possible, keep the tooth submerged in a container of cold milk or inside your cheek (in saliva). Rush to the clinic instantly.

3. Chipped or Broken Tooth

What to do: Save any broken pieces if you can find them. Rinse your mouth with warm water. If there is bleeding, apply a piece of gauze with gentle pressure for 10 minutes. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to minimize swelling. Depending on the damage, we can fix it with composite bonding, a veneer, or a crown.

4. Lost Crown or Filling

What to do: Keep the crown safe. Do not attempt to superglue it back on! The exposed tooth will be very sensitive to hot, cold, and sweet foods. Visit us as soon as possible to have it re-cemented professionally.
