Knocked-Out Tooth (Avulsion)
An adult tooth has been completely knocked out of its socket due to trauma.
Common Causes
- Sports injury
- Falls or accidents
What to do immediately
Pick up the tooth by the crown (top), NEVER the root. If dirty, rinse briefly with milk. Try to push it back into the socket. If impossible, keep it in a glass of milk or in your cheek (saliva).
Urgency Level: Extreme - You have 30-60 minutes to save the tooth. Rush to the dentist.
If you are in severe pain or experiencing swelling, do not wait. Contact an emergency dentist immediately.
