Frequently asked
Is polishing the same as whitening?
No. Polishing removes stain sitting on the surface. Whitening changes the internal shade of the tooth. Polishing often brightens enough that whitening is not needed.
Does polishing wear the enamel away?
Not when done correctly. We use a fine paste and light pressure — the amount of surface removed is negligible.
Will my stains come back?
Surface stains return with the habits that caused them. Cutting back on tea, coffee and tobacco, plus a polish at each six-month visit, keeps them under control.
